Our Passmore Story

Passmore Yacht upholstery began life in the 1940s in London as a family business of haberdashers.  In the 1960s, the successful Bermondsey store was sold and the business relocated to Colchester in Essex, where soft furnishings became the specialism and focus.

In 1978 with the lease of a workshop on Mersea Island in Essex, Passmore Yacht Upholstery evolved into masters in marine upholstery.

Specialists in marine upholstery for the yacht & superyacht industry

Passmore Yacht Upholstery, now specialises solely in marine upholstery, reupholstering and providing soft furnishings for the boat and yacht industry. With our West Mersea workshop becoming an essential facility for servicing the emerging yacht building company Oyster Yachts in 1978.

Private commissions with distinct elegance

Our private commissions have included Steven Jones’s Hustler designs, a considerable number of privately built one-off sailing and motor yachts, and a significant collection of boat upholstery refurbishments for many types of individually owned yachts and boats.

Exclusive Yachting Partnerships

We take pride and passion in providing excellence and working with some of the best of British yachting brands and regularly furnish and upholster new yachts for Oyster Yachts, Gunfleet Marine and the beautifully crafted wooden vessels by Spirit Yachts.

For marine upholstery refurbishing services, Vortec Marine and Fox’s Marina remain two of our long-standing clients.

With the addition of a third generation family offering, we are very well placed to confidently deliver the very best in new ideas that have changed and lifted the firm’s capabilities.  We have been dedicated to projects and fabrication of interiors and exteriors for sailing super yachts and motor boats for over forty years.  And we already have plans for the next 10 years, where we will continue to develop and provide beautiful high quality marine upholstery for new and existing clients.
